Join the Walking Team
The backbone of our One Body is our Team Walkers who walk the track during the 18 hours of Relay. From 6:00 p.m. Friday night to noon on Saturday, at least one of our Team Walkers can be found somewhere on the track because we're committed to finding a cure for cancer. We're inspired by the strength, courage and love shown by the survivors in our lives and our loved ones who have lost their battle with cancer.
What does it take to be a Team Walker besides strong legs, a sense of humor and good blister medication? A commitment to raise a minimum of $100.00 per team member and to be present for a minimum of two hours during Relay is all that is needed. Well, a decent umbrella and waterproof shoes may come in handy, too!

p.s. If you're worred about the fundraising bit, please rest assured that we have lots of ideas to help you in this regard, and we can also hold One Body of Hope team fundraising events as well. As long as you're willing to help, we'll raise the funds.
Join the Rocking Team
If you can't walk, not to worry, you can join our rocking team! We're going to have some rocking chairs available at our team campsite for folks who would rather rock together toward a cure.
Team Rockers will register just like Team Walkers and are asked to make a similar $100.00 fundraising and two-hour time commitment. Since we'll have a limited number of rocking chairs available, Team Rockers will need to sign up for specific hours to rock, so join the team early to get the hours you want.

Join the Support Team
All teams need strong supporters and One Body of Hope is no different. All of our Team Walkers and Team Rockers need food, caffeine, prayers and comic relief (not necessarily in that order) throughout the 18 hours of Relay.
Our One Body needs helping hands, willing hearts, smiling faces and strong backs. Can you help set up the campsite during the day on Friday? Help break it down Saturday at noon? Bring a pizza Friday night or coffee Saturday morning? Commit to praying for our One Body and those for whom we Relay? Commit to praying for good weather?
Invite a Survivor
Who do you know who would appreciate being honored as a survivor at Relay? Registered survivors are recognized during the opening ceremony and are cheered on by all participants as they walk the first lap of Relay, and their caregivers are invited to join them as they make their way around the track during the second lap. Afterwards, survivors and their primary caregiver are invited to attend a delicious banquet in their honor. All this and a survivor t-shirt, too! Who could resist?
Please note that because of privacy laws, survivors must contact the American Cancer Society directly and ask to be included in the festivities. Please email Brigit Ryan at the American Cancer Society with your contact information including name, address and email address.
Donate Funds
Of course, the main reason we brave the elements, sleep deprivation and a rooster calling contest at 7:00 a.m. is because we are committed to raising funds for cancer research. While the Avon and Making Strides events are awesome fundraising opportunities in the fight against breast cancer, the Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's primary event to raise funds for ALL types of cancer.
There are a few different ways you can help us raise funds, including making a personal donation, purchasing a luminaria or through corporate sponsorship.
To make a personal donation online, follow the link below to One Body of Hope's official team page. Online donations go directly to the American Cancer Society through the ACS Relay for Life secure Web site. If you'd rather not donate online, you can always give a check to one of our team members or drop it off at the St. Jude Parish Religious Education Office.
Please note that all checks should be made out to the
American Cancer Society.

Luminarias are small white bags that can be purchased for $10.00. You can decorate your luminaria In Honor Of a cancer survivor, In Memory Of a cancer victim or In Support Of someone who is fighting cancer at this time. On Friday night of Relay, the luminarias are collected and a small tea light is placed inside each one, the luminarias are placed around the track and, once darkness falls, their candles are lit. At that time, the track lights are extinguished and everyone present is asked to walk the track in silence, in tribute to those for whom we Relay. Please contact me if you would like to purchase a luminaria.
Do you have a business or know of a business who would be interested in being a corporate sponsor for the Greater Derry/Londonderry Relay for Life? There are several different levels of corporate sponsorship opportunities available.
